Do not delay a repair that is necessary for safety or vehicle operation solely to preserve evidence. Ask the repair facility what can reasonably be documented or preserved without interfering with service, warranty procedures or required parts returns.
Most facilities will note recovered refrigerant quantities, test methods and part numbers on the repair order if asked before work begins. Asking costs nothing; the resulting document can be the difference between a Level D and a Level A record.
