G05 scope and model-year coverage
The G05 designates the fourth-generation BMW X5 (introduced for model year 2019). Registry coverage grows only as owners submit records; coverage today is limited to the model years represented in reviewed submissions. G05 variants do not necessarily share identical HVAC parts — fitment is VIN-specific.
Model-year filtering lives on this page. Separate model-year pages are created only when a year has materially distinct data, technical communications, parts, or statistics.
Reviewed registry records (n=1)

n=1. With fewer than 3 records, no percentages, medians or cross-tabulations are published. Raw reviewed records are shown instead.
BROWSE THE FULL REGISTRY →Mileage data awaits sufficient records
Aggregate mileage statistics (range, median) are published only once enough approved records exist (n≥10 for medians under the registry’s publication thresholds). The single documented case above was diagnosed at approximately 63,000 miles — outside the 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Three cost layers, kept separate
Layers are never blended into one average. Owner-paid totals after goodwill are reported as a fourth layer when manufacturer/dealer contribution is documented.
FULL COST INTELLIGENCE →Documented goodwill activity
Founder case: assistance requested out of warranty; initial BMW offer of 20% documented; escalated through Executive Customer Care; Field Team review — final determination pending as of August 8, 2026.
Goodwill assistance is discretionary. A contribution, denial, or percentage does not by itself establish defect, liability, warranty coverage, or manufacturer knowledge of a broader condition.
Part numbers in registry documents
No registry invoice yet documents an installed evaporator part number for the G05. Third-party catalogs list 64119496922 (Evaporator) for specified 2019–2020 G05 X5 variants, with 64115B3A5E0 as the catalog-listed superseding number.
Fitment must be verified by VIN. A superseding part number does not, by itself, establish that the earlier part was defective. AutoDefect never infers which part was installed if the invoice does not identify it.
Symptoms reported in G05 discussions and records
Uneven left/right vent temperature, progressive loss of cooling, temporary post-recharge improvement, and refrigerant loss documented at service. Each is a starting point for diagnosis.
None of these symptoms, alone or together, proves an evaporator leak. See the differential diagnosis guide before assuming a cause.
Contradictory evidence is preserved
No G05 case in the registry has yet been re-attributed to a non-evaporator cause. When one is, the record keeps its history: original suspicion, subsequent findings, and final documented diagnosis (Level E — alternative HVAC diagnosis).
WHEN IT ISN’T THE EVAPORATOR →Owner discussions, labeled as owner reports
Community threads establish that owners publicly discussed these symptoms and diagnoses. They do not establish prevalence, manufacturer knowledge, causation, or a fleet-wide defect.
Public regulatory records — separate from registry cases
Records in the NHTSA complaint database reflect information submitted by consumers to NHTSA. Their presence there does not mean NHTSA verified the allegation or determined that a safety defect exists. Search status last checked: August 8, 2026 — see the explorer for methodology; this is not a representation that no other records exist.
How this node is maintained
Cases appear here only after document review and classification. The registry is voluntary and self-selected; it cannot establish a fleet-wide failure rate. Counts are labeled n=; cells smaller than 3 are suppressed where identifiability could be an issue; medians and quartiles are never calculated from one or two records.
FULL METHODOLOGY →Own a G05 with a documented HVAC diagnosis?
Repair orders, estimates, invoices and manufacturer outcomes help distinguish documented evidence from anecdote — including outcomes where BMW covered the repair.
